چکیده
Actas Dermosifiliogr. 2009;100:615-34 626 some forms of brain tumor; although such outcomes have not been demonstrated for melanoma. The cells of retinoblastoma, melanoma and dysplastic nevus are derived from the neural crest. There are authors who postulate that patients with retinoblastoma and dysplastic nevus syndrome have increased genetic susceptibility to melanoma due to a primary anomaly in the neural crest. The association between retinoblastoma and melanoma is a controversial issue potentially dependent upon genetic predisposition or the forms of treatment received. Patients with retinoblastoma have an almost 10-fold greater risk of suffering from melanoma than those with no history of retinoblastoma, especially in cases of bilateral or hereditary types. Consequently, close follow-up of these patients is vitally important, especially in patients with associated dysplastic nevus syndrome.

Oblique view dermoscopy changes regular fibrillar pattern into parallel furrow pattern.
The majority of melanocytic nevi on the soles may show 3 major dermoscopic patterns depending on the anatomical site on the sole [6] : the parallel furrow, the lattice-like, and the fibrillar patterns. Regular or irregular patterns should be identified in the fibrillar pattern. The regular fibrillar pattern is seen in acral volar melanocytic nevus, whereas the irregular fibrillar pattern is oft...
متن کاملKey points in dermoscopic differentiation between early acral melanoma and acral nevus.
Acral skin is the most prevalent site of malignant melanoma in non-Caucasian populations. On acral skin, other various kinds of pigmented lesions are also detected. Particularly, melanocytic nevus is commonly seen on acral volar skin; approximately 10% of Japanese have a nevus on their soles. Prognosis of acral melanoma is still generally poor because of delayed detection in the advanced stages...
متن کاملDermoscopic characteristics of congenital melanocytic nevi affecting acral volar skin.
OBJECTIVE To characterize the dermoscopic features of acral congenital melanocytic nevi (CMN). DESIGN Retrospective independent evaluation of dermoscopic images by 2 dermoscopists. SETTING A dermatology clinic at a university hospital. PATIENTS Using the files of the clinic from January 1, 2004, through February 28, 2009, we selected cases with CMN lesions affecting acral volar skin that ...
متن کاملAtypical dermoscopic presentation of an acral congenital melanocytic nevus in an adult: parallel ridge pattern and its histologic correlation
Acral melanoma is the most frequent subtype in the Asian and Mexican mestizo populations. Dermoscopy is a noninvasive diagnostic technique that helps the differential diagnosis of pigmented skin lesions on acral volar skin. We, herein, present a case of acral congenital melanocytic nevus with a parallel ridge dermoscopic pattern. Since the parallel ridge pattern in a melanocytic lesion of the a...
متن کاملDermoscopic patterns of 158 acral melanocytic nevi in a Latin American population.
BACKGROUND Melanocytic nevi are frequently found on acral volar skin. Differentiation between nevi and melanoma is essential and sometimes difficult, although dermoscopy has enabled a more specific diagnosis of pigmented lesions. Dermoscopic patterns of lesions on acral volar skin have mostly been described in European and Asian populations. The Latin American population is heterogeneous, and p...
